Menstrual hygiene and sanitation challenges are still contributing to high school dropout in Mlomo area in Nsanje District in Malawi. More than 100 girls dropout of school every year due to menstrual hygiene problems in Mlomo area.

Mothers groups from Mlomo said that they have noted that when the girls reach puberty, most of them lose focus to continue with their education due to among others issues lack of proper toilets or changing rooms for their menstrual hygiene.
