Hunger and unemployment has lead the youth of Matsapha, Mahlabatsini into criminality. Not too long ago these people were stealing from the local small shops and now it has gotten out of hand as taps are being stolen and sold. Early this year, more than 30 residents of Matsapha have reported stolen taps, up to date more than 100 have reported the cases. One of the residents said ” Today is the tenth day of buying the taps, we are tired, sesidziniwe nguletigila mkhuba ngoba mabangakebi bayayiphula bashiye kute lutfo” apparently they target the steel ones and they break the plastic ones and this has affected the residents of Matsapha because the water bill keeps of raising.
