Angry people in Kachere, Blantyre, Malawi were about to set fire on three people who were caught stealing cement at a certain shop but the suspected people were rescued by police since they rushed to the scene. This comes after loss of trust in Malawi’s unformed security personnel since the culprits are usually released at the expense of justice for the offended.

In an separate interview with Limbe Police Station, the spokesperson said community members must stop taking the law into their hands but rather hand over all suspected culprits to the nearest police station. When asked how the police is going to end the mob justice, he said there’s special committee at Limbe Police Station that is yet to conduct civic education on the risks associated with mob justice.
