Bulawayo residents have called on the Zimbabwe United Passenger Company (ZUPCO) to ensure that there is proper servicing of vehicles before clearing them to ferry citizens. This comes after a realization that some ZUPCO vehicles especially busses are not in a good state to be on the road. Some of these public transport vehicles have torn or no seats that make them uncomfortable for passengers. Last year the government introduced ZUPCO as the main public transporter which saw it luring private actors into affiliating with the parastatal as a mitigation strategy against worsening transport woes in the midst of the biting economic crisis.
