Opening of mines, a cause for concern for Sefikile Community

by Amo Tshabala…The lockdown extension will see mining companies operating with reduced capacity and we, as Sefikile Village, know that we are going to face a very serious challenge of being exposed to this pandemic as most of the workers rent in our village and as the community leaders and the Board Members of the Lekgotla we had to sit down and discuss the fact that Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine did not consult with us as the community.
We then wrote the letter to the following people;
1)BBK Administrator Mr P Tjie
2)Mine General Manager Mr Hobson Jantjies
3)Khayalethu Matrose of DMR
4)Ndlelenhle Zindela of DMR
5)Moses Kotane Local Municipality Mayor Ralesole Diale
6)Louise Du Plesis our legal Advisors and
7)Sefikile Development Forum laying a formal complaint and letting the mine know that we as the Sefikile community don’t approve and agree with their decision using the mines call out to their employees.
See the attached letters of the mine from the mine to their employees and ours of the Sefikile community as we don’t agree with mine (SIYANDA BAKGATLA PLATINUM MINE) call out to their employees.
