Leprosy patients at Utale village in Balaka were all smiles on 7 October when a group of journalists reporting on Tuberculosis and Leprosy, visited them and donated assorted basic needs worth 500 000 kwacha. The 14 Leprosy patients are facing serious challenges hence the decision to assist them with basic needs such as clothes, sugar, salt, maize flour, soap and cooking oil among others. Father Samuel Malamulo of Utale 2 Parish has commended the journalists for the support and asked people who are keeping leprosy patients in their homes to send them to the village for treatment. He added that they are failing to take the patients to Kamuzu Central hospital to access artificial legs among others, hence a call for well wishers to donate a vehicle
