The problem of unattended sewer bursts has been a talking point in Makokoba for the past two months. Efforts to engage the Bulawayo City Council have proved futile. A resident, Grace Mutanda has described the situation as a ‘timebomb. “This situation is a ticking time bomb. It is a recipe for a disease outbreak and that is something we cannot afford,” said Mutanda. The community’s water and sanitation services have been compromised not to mention the associated health risks. We were unable to get a response from Bulawayo City Council as their phones went unanswered.
