For many years people residing at an informal settlement in Tembisa were with out properly installed electricity. They would illegally connect cables to to power their homes from street lights, mini-substations and these illegal connections would cut off each time when there was an under supply of electricity and could not carry all different electricity appliances plugged. Two weeks ago, the city of Ekurhuleni got busy installing electricity properly to prevent illegal connections and electricity theft. Not knowing if this is for political gain since elections are around the corner since politicians become members of the community only when elections are to take place then after they disappear.
