Delays in road construction worry residents in Blantyre at Manja

Manja residents in Blantyre, Malawi, have expressed worry over the delay of road construction within the township by the City Council.

Earlier this year, the country’s Vice President, Honourable Dr Saulos Chilima, inspected the road and then directed the city council to start constructing the road as soon as possible after seeing it’s state, but until now nothing has happened on the ground.

The road is in bad shape especially during the rainy season which makes it difficult for both people and cars to use as it is associated with mud and unnecessarily running water due to poor drainage systems.

Residents pleaded to the city council to start constructing the road and the road must have street lights, as they claim that it is their right to have good road, since they are paying city rents to the council.
