Bulawayo City Council fails to attend burst water pipes

Unrepaired burst water pipes in Northlynne, Bulawayo are a constant source of heartache for residents. These pipes were damaged as a result of work that was being conducted by a telecommunications service provider in the area. Residents are concerned about the amount of treated water that is being lost every day. Last year Bulawayo residents experienced a water shortage that led to a prolonged water shedding schedule. A resident that declined to be named said they have unsuccessfully tried to engage the local authority, Bulawayo City Council (BCC) over the issue, “We have been constantly trying to engage BCC over these pipes, but nothing has been done,” she said. Efforts to contact BCC were fruitless as their phones went unanswered.
