Emganwini residents in Zimbabwe’s second largest city, Bulawayo, have lamented the continued water disconnection exercise by Bulawayo City Council which has denied them the precious liquid. The local authority has indicated that the exercise is a means by council to encourage residents to settle their bills. However, residents have stated that they cannot afford to settle their bills due to the continued economic meltdown which has left them jobless and without any source of income. They have also indicated that they cannot afford to pay the reconnection fees the local authority is demanding.
