According to a KwaZulu Natal Christian Council’ source, the teacher who was apparently on her way to work, was a resident of Gamalakhe Township and Head Of Department (HOD) at Malusi High School in Oshebeni, a township in South Coast.

As a result of gun fire, some commuters were affected and rushed to hospital. Faith Leaders of Southern KwaZulu Natal Christian Council (SKZNCC) were urgently informed to rush to the scene to mediate and offer immediate counselling to the affected families.
